TPG Style Guide Development

  • Powerpoint, Illustrator, InDesign

  • To create a cohesive guide for the design team to follow for internal projects.

  • The company was out of date on their style. This document mainly applies to the companies PowerPoint presentations which is how most of their projects are presented. However, this Style Guide is used for all designers as a beacon for other project mediums.

Final Product

This Style Guide refresh for The Partnering Group (TPG) was completed over about 6 months by a team of 6 designers. Working through this as a team was a great experience. Each member of the team was vocal on their opinions which led to intriguing conversions and debates on design ideas. The outcome is now used throughout TPG’s organization and has been well received by the company.

The Color Palette

One of the major changes we made to the Style Guide (last updated by myself and the team in 2019) was the color palette. We explored themes that related to the core of the company. The Partnering Group (TPG) is a consulting firm. Keywords such as: longevity, trust, loyalty, profit, energy, and value were a few that influenced the new palette.

Color Study

As a design team, we were tasked with developing a brighter yet professional color palette. The TPG leadership team requested a more tech forward and established look and feel. Blue and gold have been the company’s main colors for years, which meant we had room to experiment with the supporting colors. By incorporating a bright blue and a deep green, we were able to successfully blend the ideas of tech and establishment.

The Logo

Redesigning the logo was truly a group effort. The team gathered stimulus of logos we believed were successful then sat down and talked through what the best qualities of each were. Over about 4 weeks of brainstorming and sketching new designs, we landed on this simplified, brightened, higher contrasted logo that kept the core value of “partner” through the idea of linkage among the two diamonds.
